The CCG is supporting the campaign by NHS Blood and Transplant to get more men to come forward to donte plasma to help Covid-19 victims.

NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) are asking for men aged 18-65 who’ve had Covid-19 to donate plasma.  This is to support ongoing national clinical trials into potential lifesaving treatments for Covid victims.

Men have higher antibody levels and NHSBT are particularly looking for those treated in hospital in the past six months and men from the BAME community to come forward.

Convalescent plasma is being collected at donation centres in Manchester and Bolton.  Potential donors are carefully screened and a donation takes around 45 minutes.  As infection rates fall the number of plasma donors will reduce and NHSBT are asking for everyone’s support to build stocks back up again.

Visit www.nhsbt.nhs.uk or search 'donate plasma' for more information on how to register as a donor and 'Be the difference!'
