Covid third vaccine dose update

Updated: 16 September 2021

The Government announced on 14th September the roll out of a third dose of the Covid vaccine to those aged over 50, those over 16 with health conditions and frontline health and social care workers.

This comprises around 30 million people and should be given no sooner than 6 months after the second dose - and at the same time as the flu jab.  Invitations will begin to be issued in the coming weeks from GP practices and the national booking service as before.

This is in addition to the previous announcement on 2 September that people over the age of 12 with severely weakened immune systems should have a third vaccine dose to top up protection against Covid-19.

The Government has also announced the offer of a single dose of the Pfizer Covid vaccine for all children aged 12-15 in England.  This will be organised and delivered on site at schools through the local schools immunisation team.

Please be patient regarding your invitation - further information will be posted here and on our news pages as we receive it from NHS England.
