James qualified in 1980 and in 1987 was appointed as Lecturer in the Department of Medicine at the University of Manchester.
In 1992 he was appointed as a Consultant at the Royal Oldham Hospital, specialising in Medicine for Older People and Parkinson’s disease. James has vast experience in clinical and operational management. He was Medical Director at Stockport NHS FT for 14 years and prior to this served as Clinical Director for 7 years.
James is currently the Chief Clinical information officer at Stockport NHS FT. He is a member of an implementation team responsible for deploying a hospital and community electronic patient record. He joined the CCG on 1 June 2017.
